General Questions

Q: What are Protection Plans / Extended Warranties?

A: Protection plans are a great way for customers to protect against expensive replacements of high value items. Product protection plans, also referred to as extended warranties, extended service plans, or extended service contracts, provide consumers with coverage beyond any manufacturer's warranty.

Q: What is an Extend Protection Plan?

A: Extend Protection Plans are offered by Extend and provide you with coverage beyond any manufacturer’s warranty. There are two types of plans: (1) Base Plans, which cover product failure after the manufacturer warranty expires and (2) Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) Plans, which begin at the time of purchase and cover damage caused by accidents - with regard to tires and wheels, this would include accidental damage from hitting a pothole or running over nails, glass, or other debris that typically would not be in the roadway.

Q: Why should I buy extended warranty coverage?

A: Fixing or replacing wheels and tires can be expensive. An Extend Protection Plan is a low-cost way to protect your investment.

Q: What type of tire or wheel damage does an Extend Protection Plan cover?

A: An extended warranty plan from Extend covers damage to your tire(s) or wheel(s) from objects and road conditions not generally found in the roadway. This includes potholes, rocks, wood debris, metal parts, nails, glass, plastic or composite scraps, or any item that causes the tire or wheel to be unserviceable.

NOTE: Extend Warranty Coverage may be offered on certain 'commercial' tires or wheels as those products can also be used on personal trailers and for other personal applications. It should be noted that tires or wheels used for commercial use* ARE EXCLUDED from coverage.

*Commercial Use: A vehicle registered to a business and/or for business purposes. Vehicles that are used in excess of manufacturer’s G.V.W. Vehicles used for construction purposes, delivery purposes, commercial towing, commercial farm operation, tow trucks, snowplows, any type of emergency vehicles, volunteer public service(s), motor pool vehicles, rental, taxi cabs, livery or for excessive hauling and pulling are excluded from coverage.

Q: How do I purchase an Extend Protection Plan?

A: You can add the protection plan to your online shopping cart with your product or you can purchase the plan over the phone through WheelSetGo's Sales / Fitment team.

Q: What is an Unserviceable Tire?

A: An unserviceable tire is one that has been punctured or otherwise damaged to the extent that it is unrepairable (i.e. it CANNOT be repaired with a patch, a plug, or a combination of the two).

Q: What is an Unserviceable Wheel?

A: An unserviceable wheel is damaged and inoperable, or a wheel that will no longer hold a seal with its tire.

Q: If my wheel or tire is deemed Unserviceable, what type of replacement will I receive?

A: Replacement will be made with a virtual gift card containing the amount you paid for the original tire or wheel. The virtual gift card can then be used at wheelsetgo.com to purchase a replacement product. When it comes to tires, this coverage is valid through the tread life of a tire (tires with 3/32" or less of remaining tread depth are excluded).

Q: What is not covered with the Extend Protection Plan?

A: See Wheel Terms and Conditions and/or Tire Terms and Conditions for exclusions.

Q: Are Mounting and Balancing Fees covered with an Extend Protection Plan?

A: Mounting and Balancing Fees on original or replacement wheels and tires are not covered.

Q: Are product price increases covered with an Extend Protection Plan?

A: The plan covers like kind and cost. Any increase in the produt price from when the product was originally purchased to when a claim is approved would not be covered.

Q: If I am planning to finance my wheel and tire package, why should I add an Extend Protection Plan to my purchase?

A: If you damage your product in a manner that is not covered by the standard manufacturer warranty, you will still be responsible for making payments to complete your financing agreement. An Extend Protection Plan paired with each of the items in your order can help protect your investment, ensuring that you do not have to make payments on wheels or tires that are no longer useable.

Q: Can I finance an Extend Protection Plan with my wheel and tire package?

A: Yes!

Q: How many times can I use the Extend Protection Plan?

A: The Extend Protection Plan is a single replacement program that allows for a 1-time replacement of a like or comparable product should it become defective.

Q: Are Extend Protection Plans transferable?

A: Yes, Extend Protection Plans are transferable in situations where you sell your vehicle, or you purchased products with associated plans on behalf of someone else. See Wheel Terms and Conditions and/or Tire Terms and Conditions, section 'Conditions' for additional information related to the transfer process.
